ERSQ delivers battery recycling services to the commercial sector, schools, government and our waste management partners.
Battery recycling is acknowledged as a global issue due to low recycling percentages. According to the United Nations University “batteries are a risk to human health and the environment if disposed of inappropriately”.
Batteries contain valuable metals such as cadmium, zinc, manganese, cobalt and rare earth metals that may be recovered through recycling. Sustainability Victoria estimates that less than 3 per cent of all batteries purchased in Australia are currently recycled, with the rest going to landfill.
Safe Storing, Handling and Transporting Batteries for Recycling
Many types of batteries are deemed to be prescribed waste, with transport and storage methods controlled by the various state EPAs.
ERSQ has three main types of dangerous goods approved battery collection/storage containers. All are compliant to current legislation.
